A team led by professor Cai Yingfeng from Jiangsu University won the second prize at the 2018 Global Artificial Intelligence Application Competition in Nanjing on Sept 6.
The team of nine, professor Cai and his eight students, impressed with their environmental perception technology, which when embedded in an unmanned vehicle can help it "perceive" in complex road conditions.
The competition was launched earlier this January. Roadshows were carried out in 10 domestic cities, as well as overseas. The preliminary, intermediary and final stages attracted 1,258 teams from across the globe.
