College campuses across China are now thronged with students born in the 2000s. Communication University of China, Nanjing (CUCN), sitting nearly 30 kilometers away from the provincial capital, is no exception.
On Sept 9, the school received a new group of 108 millennials, sailing them onto the four-year studies of e-sports analysis.
This is the second year students majoring in this emerging industry were admitted to CUCN. They dream of becoming e-sports handlers, instructors, or professional players in the future.
CUCN announced the opening of the new major in late 2016, in the face of China's e-sports industry involving over 170 million players, up 30 percent year-on-year, and its market share reaching 30 billion yuan ($4.37 billion), a year-on-year growth of 43 percent.
