A children's chorus concert performed by four groups from Wuxi and Taiwan was held in Wuxi Children's Palace on June 2.

Sponsored by the Wuxi municipal government's Taiwan Affairs Office, the Wuxi municipal education bureau and the Wuxi literature and art association, the concert organizers invited a children's chorus from Taidong county of Taiwan, and a student's chorus from Beixin primary school in Xinbei city of Taiwan, to perform with children's choruses from Wuxi Children's Palace and Wuxi Lianyuanjie primary school.

A number of harmonious songs featuring local characters won great applause. The two-hour performance climaxed with Tong Yi Shou Ge (The Same Song), which expressed the friendly cross-Straits relations through the voices of the 200 child singers.

"It is the first time I came to the Chinese mainland and I enjoyed the delicious food and nice scenery here in Wuxi," said Tsai Yu-hsiang, a student from Daniao primary school in Taidong county.

According to the deputy director of the Taidong education bureau Lu Yu-ling, 32 students making up the children's chorus were selected from 87 primary schools in Taidong county. "It is a great chance to show their talents and broaden their horizons", Lu said.

Wuxi mayor Huang Qin and director of Taidong county enjoyed the concert and expressed their gratitude to each other for the culture exchange event.

"The Wuxi government will continue to encourage culture and economy exchanges between the two sides. It is extremely important to strengthen the construction of a cultural identity, deepen the national identity and strengthen the Chinese identity in the future on both sides of the Straits." Huang said.
