New Wuxi Children's Palace opens to public

The opening ceremony for the new Wuxi Children's Palace was held in its center hall on Feb 2, 2018. Wuxi Party secretary Li Xiaomin and Wuxi mayor Wang Quan were both in attendance.

Covering a total area of 40,000 square meters, the new Wuxi Children's Palace officially opened in Taihu New City in Wuxi's Binhu district. It includes facilities for children's study, activities, communication, and entertainment.

Each building can be identified by color – the pink one is for entertainment, the orange one is for painting and calligraphy, the yellow one is for technology, the green one is for community activities, the white one is for sports, the purple one is for multiple events, and the dark gray one contains the only children’s music theater in Jiangsu province.

A total of 272 activity rooms have been built for children with all sorts of interests. More than 700 classes, including Chinese Classics Institutes and pottery classes, will be opened to help nurture their talents and interests.

Wuxi Children's Palace, built in 1956, is one of the country's earliest off-campus educational institutions. Wuxi mayor Wang Quan recognized its important role in guiding and assisting children's overall development and competence education.

Wuxi Children's Palace has provided 400 free one-week courses for students during the winter holiday, and thousands of students have signed up online.
