School launches anti-bullying campaign

A primary school in Jiangsu, East China launched a campaign to curb physical, verbal and cyberspace bullying on Jan 11.
There have been frequent reports of school bullying in recent years. For example, in 2016 a group of girls were caught on camera slapping another girl more than 30 times, and in 2015 a boy in junior high school jumped from the fourth floor of a classroom building in a suicide attempt as he could no longer handle bullying. These incidents have raised great public concern and demand for improved measures for preventing and handling bullying.
Focusing on the legal and mental health education of students, the northern Jiangsu primary school hosted a variety of themed activities, such as hand-drawn posters introducing possible anti-bullying solutions, short plays aiming to increase the students’ awareness of bullying, contestants challenging each other’s anti-bullying knowledge, and even a “rainbow mailbox” inviting the youngsters to write down their school grounds worries and troubles.
