At the unveiling ceremony Zhao shared her ideas of how to attract more students and how to best keep the traditional cultural treasures alive and active on Jiangsu campuses.

Zhao referred to her embroidery course, which offered male students a rare chance to experience the once women-only crafts, and also advised them to seek a balance of inner peace and artistic design. She also confirmed NUAA’s determination to share these cultural treasures with more students.

Nanjing University, another prestigious college in Jiangsu, was also included by the Ministry of Education as an inheritance center for local zisha (purple clay) ceramics. These schools were selected to conserve and promote folk music, traditional painting, folk dance, opera and handcrafts.
