Overseas students experience Chinese musical art

The third edition of the Chinese cultural experience series at Yangzhou University opened on Nov 21, introducing overseas students to all sorts of Chinese folk music.
The activity attracted some 30 students from Belgium, Colombia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Egypt, Indonesia, Thailand, Mozambique and South Africa.
From the history and development of folk music to the diversified musical views of Chinese ancestors, Lu Di, a teacher at Yangzhou University, explained in detail the various features and traditions of Chinese music, and also invited the overseas students to try their hands at playing some instruments.
She also introduced the students to classical dancing and characteristic gestures, which in company with Chinese folk melodies, brought out the unique charm of Chinese performing art.
