The Chinese painting class held on Nov 6 introduced numbers of overseas students from Yangzhou University to a world of artistic China.
As the first edition of the school’s Chinese cultural experience series, the class attracted Yin Yuan, a master hand in Chinese painting, as well as some 50 students from Belgium, Colombia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Ghana, Yemen, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Master Yin’s class aroused great interest among the students.
Her introduction to the history and categories of Chinese painting, its basic techniques and drawing materials have guided the students to surpass the artistic doors, her invitation to the students trying their hands at Chinese realistic painting (elaborate-style) have definitely helped them grasp its unique charm.
The students were totally absorbed in designing their peony flowers, from drawing the outlines, coloring their works to final embellishments.
They spoke highly of the Chinese painting activity, as it offered them first-hand experiences to Chinese culture, while also gaining knowledge they wouldn’t have gained from other ordinary classes, such as how to control the wrist power when outlining, how to polish with water, and how to overlay different colors for better visual effect.
