The 22nd Yangzhou University Sports Meeting concluded with a bang on Oct 22, with the college’s international students putting in some great performances.
The university’s business and sports schools continued their traditional dominance, but students from the College of Overseas Education achieved impressive results in the sprint, shot put, high jump and javelin.
Mathur Saransh from India capped his sports debut at the university in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province with a fourth place in his heat of the 200 meters relay on Oct 21, while his compatriot Bijarnia Aakash bagged a silver medal in the 800 meters.
He said the quality of his opponents, which even included some professional athletes and sports researchers, drove him to run even faster in the race.
“Just like China’s ‘new four great inventions’, high-speed railways, electronic payment, shared bicycles and online shopping, life in China brings real convenience and efficiency, and always inspires you to go higher, faster, and stronger,” Aakash said.
The College of Overseas Education at Yangzhou University has created an open and encouraging environment for overseas students. They eagerly engaged in various cultural activities and have established sound relationships with their Chinese classmates.
