The team from Hohai University overwhelmed Jiangsu University 4-2 to lift the 2017 Jiangsu University Intercity Football League trophy on May 27.

The first college football tournament in Jiangsu kicked off on April 8 and consisted of 92 matches plus a final. Over 1,500 people, including government officials, enterprise leaders, coaches, athletes and local students and teachers attended the closing ceremony.

The Hohai University and Jiangsu University teams kept spectators holding their breath from the beginning.

Though Jiangsu opened the scoring in the first half, Hohai leveled the score with a corner kick in the last minute of the second half, and continued their dominance in penalty kicks, finally sealing the victory at 4-2.

A group of referees, coaches, goalkeepers, shooters and athletes were awarded after the final, praised for their excellent performances during the month-long tournament.

A joint effort of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau, the Jiangsu school football workgroup, the Jiangsu football association and the Suning Sports Group, the tournament gave full play to the exchanges between varsity teams, promoted a rich campus atmosphere of football culture, and boosted sound and stable football development among Jiangsu universities.
