Innovation competition kicks off at NUAA

The first assessment seminar for scholarships in excellent innovation and entrepreneurship was held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) on Feb 26, to encourage the spirit of innovation.

Top students from seven universities affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the organizer of the event, competed for scholarships as well as seven prizes for innovation worth 60,000 yuan ($8,719), and seven for entrepreneurship worth 10,000 yuan.

Zidian, an innovation team from NUAA and winner of the second International Innovation Competition for Unmanned Aircraft, held in 2013, introduced its plasma-flow control technology for improving performance in aircraft.

Wei Mingchuan, a post-90s professor from Harbin Institute of Technology, submitted his latest satellite technology proposals. Wei was the chief designer of the satellite Lilac-2, which was launched in 2015.

VxFly, an entrepreneurial team from Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU), exhibited its robot and drone technology which are expected to achieve sales of up to 120 million yuan by 2018.
