Nanjing University (NJU) recently clinched 12th place among the world’s top universities for its academic achievements, a dramtatic rise of eight places from last year’s result, according to a recent ranking by UK-based Nature Publishing Group (NPG). 

NPG uses the ‘nature index’ to measure the international academic work of scientific institutions, based on comprehensive statistics collected by international scientists for the Journal of Natural Science.   

Nanjing University was the second-highest ranked university from the Chinese mainland, behind only Peking University. Besides, 16 universities from Jiangsu province made the top 100, including Suzhou University at 11th, Southeast University at 27th and Nanjing University of Technology at 31st.
