Veteran teacher Zhou Huosheng organized a charity book sale at Qiandeng Primary School in Kunshan, Jiangsu province on Feb 15.

Zhou Huosheng is hardly your average 83-year-old man. Since retiring in 1994, he has devoted most of his time and money to helping poor children in remote areas to study.

By opening charity sales all over schools in Kunshan, Zhou has raised some 4.6 million yuan ($670,000) over the decades and set up five Hope primary schools in impoverished regions.

"Be alive and keep dedicating," this is Zhou's motto.
