Taihu University of Wuxi was elected by the National Ministry of Education on July 20 as one of the 30 academic collaborators from 328 contestants in the country to build its Information Communication Technology (ICT) Innovative Center, Wuxi Daily reported.
The ICT Innovative Center is a school-enterprise cooperation project jointly organized by the national Ministry of Education and ZTE Corporation, a global leader in telecommunications and information technology, to integrate industrial development and educational resources and promote transformation and innovation of universities of applied sciences.
ZTE will offer Taihu University of Wuxi an initial fund of 5 million yuan ($750,000), with 10 million yuan funded by the university to promote in-depth cooperation in majors such as communication engineering, computer science and technology (cloud computing).
The two sides will work together to conduct joint recruitment and establish a group of majors based on Internet of Things engineering, network engineering, software engineering and e-commerce.
An expert appraisal group from the National Ministry of Education affirmed the major setting of Taihu University of Wuxi, which is consistent with regional industrial structure adjustment, and demonstrates research and innovation competency in high-tech industries such as the Internet of Things, smart medical care, and intelligent transportation.
