Nanjing Sport Institute was founded in 1956 and sits at the southern foot of the Zijin Mountain in eastern suburb of Nanjing. The institute covers an area of 40 hectares and is adjacent to famous tourist attractions, such as Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Linggu Temple.
The institute's sports team has achieved a lot in competitions at home and abroad over the past half century and nurtured a lot of athletes and coaches, including 15 Olympic champions, 88 world's champions and record breakers, as well as more than 100 coaches who have received national sports medal or enjoyed special government allowance.
The institute has established partnership with universities and sports research facilities in Japan, Australia, the US and Germany, as well as China's Hong Kong and Taiwan. It has also held exchange programs with its counterparts from more than 40 countries and regions.
