A signing ceremony for a high-end textile industrial park project, based on a total investment of 1.1 billion yuan ($162.33 million), was held in Fenghuang town, Zhangjiagang on June 10.

As the city's first physically implemented printing and dyeing cluster, the project is expected to promote the transformation of the traditional textile industry as it moves towards clustering, high-end, green, intelligent, and branded development.

The park will be divided into three major areas: a new project area, a functional support area, and a quality-improvement area.

The former will include the construction of two high-end textile printing and dyeing projects, while the functional support area will feature infrastructure like a river water purification system and an industrial wastewater pretreatment system.

In the quality-improvement area, upgrades and expansions such as enhancing wastewater treatment facilities will be implemented to boost the core competitiveness and green development level of the local printing and dyeing industry.

Once fully completed, the project will have a comprehensive annual processing capacity of over 40,000 metric tons of high-end textile products, with an annual output value of 2 billion yuan.
