The 2026 Zhangjiagang Chinese New Year Shopping Fair, which opened on Shazhou Road Pedestrian Street, concluded on Feb 4. It attracted over 600,000 visitors, recorded nearly 180,000 transactions, and generated sales exceeding 3 million yuan ($434,073).
The event featured six themed exhibition areas and more than 160 stalls, presenting a wide variety of local agricultural products, intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, and regional delicacies. Interactive activities such as parades featuring performers dressed as the God of Wealth and calligraphers writing Spring Festival couplets added to the festive atmosphere.
This year's fair also introduced an innovative live-streaming section, creating a diverse consumer experience through the integration of online and offline elements.
In 2026, Zhangjiagang intends to continue hosting a series of fairs to introduce high-quality agricultural products and accessible services to residential compounds. By integrating cultural and tourism initiatives, the city aims to stimulate both rural vitalization and urban consumption.
