Wuxi in Jiangsu province launched a shopping festival at Huishan Ancient Town on Jan 25, aimed at unlocking the potential of consumer demand.
From mid-January to the end of March, travelers arriving at Wuxi Shuofang Airport can scan the QR code on their tickets to access a mini-program visitor section and receive a consumer gift package valued at up to 8,888 yuan ($1,277.85).
This package spans various sectors, including retail, dining, accommodation, and tourism. It can be redeemed at major Wuxi complexes such as Grand Orient Department Store, Center 66, MixC, Suning Plaza, as well as at airport duty-free shops, key tourist attractions, and other venues.
During the Spring Festival holiday, from Feb 15 to 23, overseas visitors can enjoy discounts equivalent to the value of the vouchers at designated tax-free stores and other merchants. Those who spend above a certain threshold will receive exquisite souvenirs.
A standout feature of the launch event was a culinary exhibition, which brought together top talents from Wuxi's culinary scene. Renowned restaurants like Wuxi Hubin Hotel and Xin Wang Hotel showcased their signature dishes, offering a taste of the region's rich culinary heritage.
The shopping festival also introduced a New Year culinary promotion. Douyin's Life Services has provided discount coupons worth 18 million yuan, covering over 5,000 dining establishments. Citizens and tourists can search for "Treasure Wuxi" (宝藏无锡) or "Wuxi Reunion Dinner" (无锡团圆饭) on the Douyin app to access these coupons and enjoy dining discounts.
