As the weather warms up, cherry trees in many scenic spots in Wuxi are starting to bloom. The best time to admire cherry blossoms in Wuxi will be around March 20 this year, according to the local meteorological observatory.
Statistics show that the spring season officially began in Wuxi on Feb 28 this year, 26 days earlier than usual and the earliest on record.
According to the local meteorological observatory, the most popular Japanese white cherry blossom - Somei Yoshino - will start blooming on March 21 and reach full bloom on March 27 in the Yuantouzhu scenic area and Changguangxi Wetland Park. The blossoms can also be admired at Nianhuawan scenic area, Hongshawan scenic area and Huihaiwan Ecological Park starting March 22.
In addition, people can visit Jinkui Park, Jiangnan University, Duyue Road, Wudu Road, and Linghu Avenue to see the first blossoms of the Somei Yoshino two days earlier on March 19.

Yuantouzhu scenic area is expected to be the most popular tourist destination in Wuxi at that time, as it has long been known for its vast expanse of cherry blossoms and attracts many tourists every year.
Every March and April, at least 70 types of cherry flowers bloom in Yuantouzhu, covering an area of 0.65 square kilometers. Cherry Blossom Valley and Changchun Bridge are the best places for scenics views. One can walk along a path under the trees, take a boat on Taihu Lake, or climb a mountain for a bird's-eye view of the pink and white flowers.
