The 2021 Jiangsu Cyber Security and Development Conference kicked off in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on Dec 14.
More than 400 people attended the event including government officials, scholars, cyber security experts and leaders of well-known enterprises. Themed "Digital empowerment and security guarantee-Building a new development pattern for cyberspace security", the conference was held both online and offline with Wuxi as the main venue and Nanjing as the branch venue.
According to the "Three-year Action Plan for the High-Quality Development of the Cybersecurity Industry (2021-23)" released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the scale of China's cybersecurity industry will exceed 250 billion yuan ($39.29 billion) by 2023 with a compound annual growth rate of over 15 percent.
Hu Guangjie, vice-governor of Jiangsu, pointed out that all cyber authorities and departments in Jiangsu have to consolidate the industrial foundation and technological research, strengthen the protection of the information infrastructure, improve the construction of cyber security information coordination mechanisms, and build an ecological development system to address cyber security challenges.
Zhao Jianjun, Wuxi's acting mayor, pointed out that the digital economy industry in Wuxi is valued at over 550 billion yuan. From January to October this year, the city's software industry totaled 120 billion yuan, which is an increase of 21.7 percent and exceeds most cities in Jiangsu province.
Zhao said at the opening ceremony that "Wuxi is striving to provide solid cyber security support for the journey of socialist modernization. It is accelerating the construction of a powerful network system that will focus on creating a new demonstration zone for cyber security, promoting the development of the cyber security industry, and building a new security development ecology."
Wuxi showed its commitment to strengthening cyber security and development during the conference with the unveiling ceremony of the China Telecom Network and Information Security Talent Training Base and the awarding ceremony for the Network Information Security Industrial Park with Wuxi Characteristics.
Agreements on 25 projects with a total value of 360 million yuan were signed at the conference, covering areas such as network security laboratories, smart city security operation centers, and network security service platforms.
At the conference, national cyber security industry leaders discussed the applications of cutting-edge technologies, industrial innovation, future trends of the cyber security industry, and ways to inject new momentum into the development of the cyber security industry in Jiangsu province.
