The second round of Wuxi's first livestreaming host competition kicked off in the city on Sept 25.
All of the participants have received professional training during the competition, with 100 competitors standing out to enter this round and 30 of them will enter the next round.
More rounds of competition will be held to select the winner, runner-up, and third place finisher, as well as the top 10 livestreaming hosts in Wuxi.
As an innovative measure to develop the livestreaming e-commerce industry in the city, this competition aims to cultivate a group of local livestreaming agencies, social media influencer brands, and celebrity livestreaming hosts, creating a favorable climate for the livestreaming e-commerce industry.
The livestreaming e-commerce industry offers companies a new marketing method that was particularly impactful during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first eight months of the year, the livestreaming sales of commodities in Wuxi were valued at 4.46 billion yuan ($689.71 million) and all 107,200 livestreams were viewed by 420 million people, according to Jiang Bo, deputy director of the Wuxi commerce bureau.
