Bosch, a German supplier of automotive components, agreed to carry out three new projects in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 29.
The projects include the development of three centers: a fuel cell battery development center, an innovation and software development center, and an intelligent connected vehicle development center.
The fuel cell battery development center is due to start operating in Wuxi National Hi-Tech District in 2021. According to Bosch, it will be the company's first fuel-cell battery development facility outside Germany.
The new site will develop, test, and produce fuel-cell battery systems and related components, including hydrogen injection valves and electronic air compressors, the German supplier added.
Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin said that Wuxi is happy to partner with Bosch, and that the city is the most important base for the company's development in China. He said that the government will continue to offer its full support and provide better services to the company.
The innovation and software development center will be developed in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone starting in 2020. It will help Chinese companies deal with issues related to electrification, intelligent connected vehicles, internet, and big data platforms.
The intelligent connected vehicle development center, which is being built in Xishan district, will help develop smart vehicles and smart transportation in the city.
Bosch also launched a 48-volt battery project in Wuxi this March. It is expected to generate up to 8.7 billion yuan ($1.38 billion) in revenue every year after it begins operating in 2021.
Bosch plans to continue helping promote the electrification of China's auto industry, according to an executive with Bosch's Powertrain Solutions Division.
