A matchmaking activity featuring large-scale equipment updates and industry financing for a food cluster in East China's Jiangsu province took place in Xinghua city in the province on Aug 28.
A total of 90 food production enterprises, equipment manufacturing enterprises and eight financial institutions in the province attended the event.
Chen Fengjian, Xinghua's Party secretary, told the attendees that the food industry was an important sector in Xinghua. He said the city had in recent years leveraged its high-quality agricultural product resources and complete upstream and downstream industrial supply chain to advance the industry's cluster development.
Chen added that 78 food enterprises in Xinghua now planned to carry out equipment updates with a combined investment of 1.6 billion yuan ($224.41 million).
During the activity, Wang Songqing, a researcher from the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, gave a talk explaining the policies for large-scale equipment updates and interest-bearing loans and subsidies.
Gao Bin, director of the consumer goods industry department of the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, released a list of updated supply and demand for equipment in the food industry cluster, as well as a list of financing needs.
A number of food production enterprises signed cooperation agreements with equipment manufacturing enterprises and financial institutions on-site.
