In the first half of the year, Xinghua city, administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province, moved to boost specialized and sophisticated firms in its domain.
It recommended 40 enterprises for the recognition of provincial specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises that produce new and unique products – and 37 of them got the recognition.
This was a pass rate of 92.50 percent, ranking the county-level city first in both the passing number and in the rate of those under the jurisdiction of Taizhou.
"Specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products are vital in solving bottleneck problems in segmented fields and are also development paths for enterprises towards high-end, intelligent and green enterprises," said Qu Riyu, deputy director of Xinghua's bureau of industry and information technology.
Xinghua has selected for special cultivation one to two typical enterprises in each economic development zone that are reproducible and promotable cultivation models for SMEs to learn from.
To help enterprises solve the common problem of a lack of research and development capabilities, the city has cooperated with a talent mobility platform. This connects universities and industry training institutes that can customize recruitment, utilization and staff retention mechanisms for enterprises.
Currently, Xinghua is home to 115 provincial specialized and sophisticated SMEs that produce new and unique products.
