The city of Xinghua – located in East China's Jiangsu province – held a technology innovation conference on Aug 16, in a bid to drum up more science and technology innovative projects and foster their commercialization.
Chen Fengjian, Xinghua's Party secretary, said that to promote technological innovation and generate new industries, models and driving forces, the city would act.
As a result, it would have a broader perspective, connect more sci-tech resources, foster emerging industries and lay the groundwork for future industries.
During the conference, the government of Xinghua signed a cooperation agreement with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute.
What's more, the city's Xinghua Economic Development Zone signed cooperation agreements with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Taizhou Industrial Technology Research Institute and the College of Food Science and Technology of Nanjing Agricultural University.
A signing ceremony for 31 sci-tech innovation projects was held during the conference, involving 16 projects worth over 50 million yuan ($7.01 million) each.
Of those, 22 projects will be registered as business enterprises and settle in Xinghua – and 10 are emerging industry projects covering such fields as third-generation innovative nucleic acid drugs and nano silicon composite insulation materials.
