Statistics showed that the Xinghua Economic Development Zone – in Xinghua city, in East China's Jiangsu province – generated a regional GDP of 19 billion yuan ($2.64 billion) last year, for a year-on-year increase of 18 percent.
The general public budget revenue and the invoiced sales of the zone in 2023 hit 658 million yuan and 22.5 billion yuan, respectively, up 24 percent and 8.17 percent year-on-year.
Dedicated efforts were made by the zone to scale up its investments and attract fresh projects last year, with over 42 investment marketing activities and six project sign-up activities held.
In 2023, the zone signed up 27 projects totaling 18.07 billion yuan, including 15 projects worth 100-500 million yuan each and 12 projects worth over 500 million yuan each.
In terms of construction, the zone broke ground on 18 projects worth over 100 million yuan each and completed the build of 14 projects worth over 100 million yuan each last year. Foreign investment of $60.48 million was leveraged to expand overall production.
