The Jianhu-Xinghua Expressway, linking Jianhu county in Yancheng city and Xinghua city – all located in East China's Jiangsu province – is set to open to traffic in early 2024.
The total length of the expressway is 71.72 kilometers, with 36.92 km in the Xinghua area.
The expressway will pass through Xinghua's Zhongbao, Shagou and Qianduo towns and the Xinghua Economic Development Zone.
The Xinghua section completed laying down 1.04 million square meters of asphalt surface on Dec 1, paving the way for it to meet the project's set timetable targets as soon as possible.
In 2023, the Xinghua section completed an investment of 840 million yuan ($117.63 million), accounting for 98.8 percent of the annual target.
Since the start of construction in April 2021, Xinghua has been accelerating the project's progress – making every effort for it to be completed and opened early this year. What's more, the city is striving to make it an ecological-quality demonstration project for expressways in Jiangsu province.
