Ancient trees charm visitors in Taizhou city

There are many ancient trees that have been tempered by time in Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, adding a special historical ambience to the modern city.

In Qintong Ancient Town, there stands an ancient locust tree with an age of more than 1,100 years. The tree is 11.8 meters high and grows in a temple with a long history. The temple is named after the old locust tree and the tree itself is also full of vitality because of the temple.

There is also a time-honored camellia tree in Qintong Ancient Town. It's currently the only artificially cultivated camellia tree with the largest base diameter, the tallest body and longest age to be found in north of the Yangtze River.

This national treasure level ancient tree was planted in the late Song Dynasty (960-1279) and has a history of over 800 years.

Elsewhere, the bodhi tree in Dongyue Temple in Shagou Ancient Town is located in the courtyard on the east side of the Dashi Buddhist Temple. It has magnificent foliage and has a history stretching back over 800 years.

Bodhi trees that bloom and bear fruit are very rare in China and the bodhi tree in the Dashi Buddhist Temple is abundant in fruit. Many tourists stand under the tree and fold their hands together to make a wish.
