A 16-megawatt fishpond surface photovoltaic power plant recently broke ground in Quxia town, Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province.
With an investment of 80.78 million yuan ($11.10 million), the project will involve the installation of solar power panels above the water area for power generation and fishing and aquaculture carried out underneath, thus achieving full utilization of land resources.
On completion, the project is expected to achieve annual power generation of 23.04 million kilowatt-hours.
This will save about 7,000 metric tons of standard coal per year, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by about 2 tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 19,000 tons.
Moving forwards, the Taixing Development and Reform Commission will follow up on project construction with relevant municipal departments, provide high-quality services and coordinate the resolution of difficulties encountered during construction.
