Taixing Smelting Plant, a company located in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, has developed watershed new copper-based materials product at the micron level that is expected to carve out even more market share.
It is seen as addressing key challenges in the maritime industry, such as exterior marine organism attachments that cause corrosion on ship hulls and interference experienced by certain high-precision electronic components on circuit boards.
The breakthrough has effectively tackled industry bottlenecks, bolstering the company's core competitiveness.
The high-quality cuprous oxide utilized by the company exhibits corrosion resistance properties, effectively resolving the irksome issue of marine organism attachments and corrosion on ship hulls.
The company's production of active copper oxide powder, when applied through dissolution and electroplating onto conductive networks, results in lower resistance and improved stability.
Liao Yikun, deputy general manager, said that in recent years active copper oxide had found applications in new communications products, gaining favor among major clients like AT&S and Samsung Electronics.
Cuprous oxide serves as the core component in marine anti-corrosion coatings, offering excellent adhesion and notable water, wear and corrosion resistance, Liao said. He added that when sprayed onto the surfaces of vessels, it acts as a robust "armor" for a ship's hull.
The company has now established itself as a reliable supplier for large multinational enterprises in Europe, the United States, and Japan. It has become the biggest copper-based materials supply base in the country, holding the top market share in Asia and ranking second globally.
