Paddy fields across Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, are turning ever-yellow right now, with the all-important harvesting of the rice set to begin around the end of the month.
Right now it is the critical period for rice maturity, so agricultural technicians in Keren village in Zhangqiao town are flat out checking the growth, fertilization, pest control and other conditions of the rice. They are looking forward to a bountiful harvest.
This year, 40,100 hectares of rice have been planted in Taixing city. Through methods, such as breeding high-quality seeds, machine transplanting of seedlings, drone spraying and mechanized harvesting, the entire process of planting rice has been placed under scientific management.
Although the city encountered some unfavorable weather conditions such as high temperatures and typhoons earlier this year, due to effective measures to increase production, Taixing is still projected to have a bumper harvest.
The city's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs is reminding farmers to take care and avoid cutting off the water too early, as well as carry out the control of rice planthoppers at the later stage.
