The power grid for Taixing city in East China's Jiangsu province recently experienced a peak in electricity consumption and as a result, the city is currently undertaking a raft of measures to ensure a stable and orderly energy supply.
The city's daily electricity consumption hit a record 33.03 million kilowatt-hours on July 8.
Municipal departments swiftly responded by moving to introduce intelligent regulation capabilities for air conditioning in large office buildings, Party and government buildings, shopping malls and in other high-consumption areas.
By installing load management devices in the air conditioning power supply circuit – or through cloud to cloud matchmaking and other modes – a solution was found. It's anticipated that the intelligent management can achieve real-time monitoring of air conditioning equipment operation data, reduce the electricity load during peak hours and achieve a load-sensing adjustment.
At present, there are 81 buildings in the city that have implemented the intelligent management of air conditioning loads, with an estimated adjustable load capacity of over 32,000 kilowatts.
In addition, Taixing has invited experts and authoritative institutions to conduct a "one enterprise, one policy" energy-saving and carbon reduction special diagnosis for businesses and manufacturers with an annual energy consumption exceeding 5,000 metric tons of standard coal.
It's expected that 20 energy-saving and carbon reduction diagnostic renovation projects will be completed this year, saving 2.98 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
