The construction of the Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge – which on completion will link Jiangsu province's Changzhou and Taizhou cities in East China – is progressing well.

The world's first river crossing passage integrating highways, intercity railways and ordinary roads, the bridge is showing many distinctive highlights in design, construction and management.

The designers say the construction of the bridge will achieve four world firsts, including a pioneering temperature adaptive tower beam longitudinal constraint system, a state-of-the-art step type foundation for reducing erosion and a self-weight caisson foundation.

Then there is a pioneering steel-concrete hybrid structure space diamond bridge tower and an advanced steel box-core concrete composite cable tower anchor structure.

The completion of the bridge is also projected to set six world records. The new structure will boast being a record-breaking maximum scale multifunctional load asymmetric arrangement bridge, a maximum span cable-stayed bridge spanning 1,208 meters, a maximum continuous length steel truss beam (4,266 m), a maximum scale carbon fiber composite cable (560 m), a maximum span dual-purpose steel truss arch bridge for the public and rail (388 m) and the highest-strength parallel steel wire diagonal cables for a bridge.

In addition, to meet the demand for large-scale development of bridge construction modules, the project team has developed the world's largest tonnage bridge deck crane with a lifting capacity of 1,800 metric tons.
