Two shipping terminals in the county-level city of Taixing – administered by Taizhou, the prefecture-level city in East China's Jiangsu province – recently received approval to have foreign vessels dock there.

The terminals are the Taizhou Port Taixing Port Trans-shipment Operation Area Jinyan Storage Liquid Chemical Terminal and the Taizhou Port Taixing Port Qi Wei Operation Area Public Terminal.

The opening of the two terminals has received full support from customs and maritime agencies, as well as from border inspection and other agencies.

Preparations for their on-site support facilities and related management systems have been made ready and are in place.

A cargo vessel from Indonesia has now docked at the Jinyan terminal, carrying 6,000 metric tons of fatty acids. In addition, a freight vessel has docked at the Qi Wei terminal, carrying more than 20,000 tons of cargo bound for the Bahamas.

The total investment of the Jinyan terminal was 316 million yuan ($47.10 million) and its design handling capacity is 2,200,000 tons per year.

The Qi Wei terminal is located at the diamond-class section of the golden waterway of the lower Yangtze River and it is expected to relieve the transportation pressures on the region's enterprises.
