The sixth session of the 17th Jingjiang People's Congress was held on Jan 13, during which the government unveiled its latest work report.

In 2025, Jingjiang achieved a regional GDP of 145 billion yuan ($20.8 billion), an increase of approximately 5.5 percent year-on-year. Its general public budget revenue hit 9.08 billion yuan, up 5 percent year-on-year.

Invoiced sales above designated size reached 157.1 billion yuan, increasing an impressive 9.8 percent. Invoiced sales within the shipbuilding industry and the automotive parts industry above designated size saw particularly strong growth, at 19.4 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively.

Industrial investment in the city also saw marked growth. The city signed agreements on 91 new projects, broke ground on 42 new projects and completed the construction of 28 projects — all worth over 500 million yuan each — last year, up 12.5 percent, 23.5 percent, 21.7 percent, respectively.

The city also imported and exported goods worth more than $7.5 billion, while foreign investment in actual use reached $210 million, and port cargo throughput hit 290 million metric tons, all growing year-on-year.

The city also achieved strong results in rural vitalization last year. In 2025, it built a provincial-level modern agricultural industry demonstration park, added 16 new livable and beautiful villages suitable for both living and working, and completed the construction of a provincial-level rural road demonstration project.

Furthermore, over 12,000 people in the city found work and over 5,000 high-level industrial talents were introduced last year.

In 2026, the city will focus on developing its economy, industries, and projects, explore the integration of industry and innovation, and attract more talent.

The city has set goals of achieving 5.6 percent growth in regional GDP and 3 percent growth in general public budget revenue in 2026.

Goals also include building a stronger industrial city with greater capabilities, building a higher-level open hub, building a more charming riverside city, creating a more beautiful natural environment, and improving people's livelihoods.
