The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – experienced a strong rebound in tourism during the recent May Day holiday, thanks to its great cultural and tourism activities on offer and its natural beauty.
According to official data, its main scenic spots received some 260,000 tourists during the break, up a whopping 120 percent compared with the May Day holiday in 2019.
The tourism revenue of the main scenic spots in the district topped 93 million yuan ($13.46 million) during the break.
Jiangyan district kicked off the holiday with a wide variety of events, music parties and boating events.
Many top restaurants were fully booked in advance. During the holiday, local specialties such as Jiangyan pastries were the hot favorites.
"In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner were also fully booked out in advance and our May Day holiday revenue was twice the usual level," said Chang Bing, a hotel manager in the district.

In addition, a marching performance, bonfire parties, camping and barbecues, open-air movies, as well as fireworks shows were widely welcomed by tourists in Jiangyan.
