The second Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China High-level Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held on Sept 4 in the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province.
Twenty-one project teams from colleges and universities, including Nanjing Normal University and Jiangnan University, participated.
Their projects covered national key development industries such as biomedicine, health food and biotechnology.
Fan Cunli, vice-mayor of Taixing, said the zone took the competition as a prime opportunity to actively create a demonstration zone for the development of the future food industry, as well as attract more outstanding entrepreneurial talent and projects from home and abroad to move their operations there.
Evaluating the participating projects, in terms of assessing their innovation value, growth space, promotions and applications, team systems and social benefits, the judges selected one first prize, two second prizes and third prizes.
A team led by Chang Zepeng from Jiangnan University in Wuxi city in the province won first prize, with the project engaged in China's food testing field.
