Suchen sewage treatment plant in Hailing Industrial Park, located in the Hailing district of Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province, has been under construction at a faster speed recently.
Currently, the main structures of the project are being constructed according to the planned schedule. Civil works for the influent pump station, emergency regulation pool, and biochemical pool have been completed 60 percent.
Covering an area of approximately 42 mu (2.8 hectares) and with a total investment of about 1.05 billion yuan ($148.49 million), this project is designed to treat the industrial sewage from the park.
Project manager Gu Xiaobin explained that they designed two-stage high-efficiency fluoride removal sedimentation pools and adopted advanced treatment processes to enhance the removal capacity of fluoride and the chemical oxygen demand.
Upon completion, the plant is poised to boast a daily processing capacity of 20,000 metric tons, with the flowing quality meeting the class A standard for urban sewage treatment plants in Jiangsu.
"This project is crucial to ensuring clean water transport for the first phase of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Jiangsu. It is significant for improving the regional water environment", said a relevant official from the ecology and environment bureau of the Hailing district.
The initiative is set to establish a purification wetland specifically designed to further reduce pollutant discharge from the plant's tailwater. According to the official, the adequately treated tailwater can then be safely released into the river, enhancing the regional water environment capacity.
