In Chunduo village, Hailing district of Taizhou, there is a photovoltaic (PV) power generation system installed on the water surface, with aquaculture activities taking place underneath.

The PV panels are arranged in rows and are effectively harnessing solar energy to generate electricity. They belong to a PV power generation project of Guohua Jinrui (Taizhou) New Energy.

Chunduo village boasts abundant water resources, with 38 rivers within its boundaries. The village has been striving to transform ecological resources into wealth-generating capital for locals in recent years.

Introducing this project has explored a new green development model, achieving income growth for the villagers and the village's collective economy.

"After completion, the village can increase its collective income by about 800,000 yuan ($112,713.93) annually. Meanwhile, PV operation and maintenance, along with fishery farming, will provide over 200 jobs for locals", said Zhou Shuyuan, director of the Chunduo village committee.

According to Zhou, the village will also cooperate with the project operator to create a popular science and education base, allowing more people to learn about new energy.

Jin Dongyun, deputy project manager of Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Engineering, introduced that the 2,600-mu (173.33 hectares) fishery and PV complementary was officially launched at the end of 2023.

It utilizes ponds and water surfaces and combines PV power stations on the water surface with aquaculture blow, maximizing space efficiency, Jin said.

This project boasts a total installed capacity of 191,000 kilowatts. Once completed and put into operation, it will annually add 216 million kilowatt hours of green electricity, save 65,000 metric tons of standard coals, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 184,000 tons.
