Jiangsu Hongqi Seed Industry, located in Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province, was recently given permission to extend its range of operations to the import and export of rice, corn and rapeseed.
Its subsidiary in East China's Anhui province was also given the green light for the import and export of rice and rapeseed.
Early in 2013, the company first qualified for the import and export of crop seeds. In 2015, it exported 800 metric tons of hybrid rice seeds, achieving a breakthrough in the history of the seed industry in Taizhou, with the first-ever exports of hybrid rice seeds.
So far, it has conducted experimental activities for new hybrid rice varieties in the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and in other countries to boost the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The company's annual export volume of hybrid rice accounts for about 15 percent of the nation's total, ranking it first in the province and among the top three in the country.
In recent years, the company has continued to expand its export market for hybrid rice while actively laying out international markets for corn and rapeseed. It has explored new paths, methods and models for overseas cooperation and accelerated the transformation of the company's export model.
