During the recently concluded May Day holiday, tourist numbers at scenic spots and cultural venues in Taizhou city, which is located in East China's Jiangsu province, surged.
According to statistics, during this year's five-day holiday, six key monitored attractions in Taizhou, including Fengcheng River scenic area, Qinhu Lake tourist area, Qintong ancient town, Gaogang Diaohua Mansion, Lizhong water forest park and the Naval vessel cultural park, received a total of 333,024 visitors, an increase of 50.43 percent compared with the same period in 2019. Ticket sales increased by 44.81 percent to 10.25 million yuan ($1.48 million), and the city held 280 cultural activities with 325,147 participants.

The municipal bureau of commerce also organized a series of events during the holiday to boost consumption through discounts and promotions.
The auto carnival showcased 52 well-known car brands, including 24 new energy brands, and sold more than 400 popular models with discounts. The event attracted over 60,000 visitors, received 268 orders, generated over 40 million yuan in sales and gained 2,200 potential customers.
The Taizhou famous products exhibition featured 77 participating companies and 86 booths, which showcased many Taizhou specialty products, such as Taixing violins, Jingjiang crab dumplings in soup and Hailing Fuxiang tea.
