A tourism, culture and food promotion event for Taicang was held in Shanghai on April 18, inviting visitors from Shanghai and across the Yangtze River Delta region to experience the city's springtime charm.

The event combined food tastings, tourism presentations and interactive activities to showcase Taicang's cultural and leisure offerings.

One of the highlights was the release of the 2026 Taicang Top 10 Recommended Dishes, featuring a range of seasonal specialties and signature local flavors. The menu included fish cakes, fish cooked with spring bamboo shoots, steamed seasonal fish dishes, and Bavarian-style roasted pork knuckle.

The event also launched the inaugural creative food competition themed around Taicang pork floss, a traditional local specialty with a long history that is known for its light and fluffy texture. Participants were encouraged to explore innovative ways of incorporating the ingredient into different foods and snacks.

Lucky draw activities were held throughout, with prizes including indoor ski resort tickets, dining vouchers and traditional wooden ship model souvenirs.

Taicang also announced upgraded services for inbound travelers, including improved multilingual support and more convenient cross-border payment options, as part of efforts to enhance the city's international tourism environment.

The city's spring tourism season will continue through the end of May. Special promotions will cover boutique hotels, rural leisure activities and trendy sports and entertainment programs, offering visitors a one-stop spring getaway experience.
