A delegation of Asia-Pacific youth leaders, organized by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG ASPAC) and invited by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, conducted an observational visit to Taicang on March 23 to learn about the city's efforts in building a youth-friendly environment.

The visit served as a platform for exchanging effective approaches aimed at supporting youth development and their integration into urban ecosystems.

In alignment with China's national guidelines for pilot youth development cities, which mandate the enhancement of conditions for youth to thrive and contribute, Taicang has taken targeted steps at the county level. The city capitalizes on its local cultural strengths while embracing international connectivity, offering diverse career pathways, accessible housing options, and dynamic community spaces.

During the delegation's tour, they engaged with innovation hubs and youth-led enterprises, gaining firsthand insights into Taicang's prioritization of young talent through strategic policies that align education, employment and lifestyle considerations.

The visit underscored the city's adeptness in balancing economic advancement with youth inclusivity, providing real-world insights into fostering environments where both urban development and young empowerment can succeed together.
