A delegation from Taicang, a city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, embarked on a journey to the United States and Singapore from April 27 to May 4 to foster economic and trade exchanges and promote investment opportunities.

During their visit, the delegation toured the headquarters of retail brands Caleres and LeSportsac. They also visited the headquarters of Nike Group and its product innovation center, as well as the PSA Singapore, a major port operator in Singapore.

At PSA Singapore, the delegation had the opportunity to observe port operations firsthand. Taicang's mayor Xu Huadong briefed the company on the situation at Taicang Port and proposed cooperation suggestions in areas such as shipping routes and logistics. PSA's representatives expressed eagerness to collaborate with Taicang Port.

During the visit to Nike's headquarters, the Taicang delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with Jorge Casimiro, vice-president and chief public policy and social impact officer of Nike.

Xu commended Nike, one of the first multinational companies to enter the Chinese market, for its over 20 years of collaboration with Taicang. He praised Nike's achievements in sustainable development, which have set a benchmark for local enterprises.

Casimiro expressed optimism about the Chinese market, affirmed Taicang's business-friendly environment, and expressed full confidence in Nike's ability to develop sustainably in the city.

Thanks to longstanding cooperation, US companies are highly active in investing in Taicang. Currently, over 100 US companies have established their presence in the city, including Nike, with a total investment exceeding $1 billion.
