Taicang continues to develop new materials industry
As a provincial-level demonstration base for new-type industrialization, the advanced basic materials base in the Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone is speeding up the transformation and upgrading of new materials.
"We will continue to focus on new materials, encourage enterprises to establish research and development centers, strengthen innovation efforts, and accelerate the formation of a new high-quality development model for the new materials industry," said Lu Yanfang, deputy director of the zone's economic and development bureau.
The port area is currently home to a number of leading companies in the industry. Among them, CGN Advanced Materials Group, which is owned by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), is engaged in the research, production, and manufacturing of advanced polymer-modified materials. Its products are widely used in the rail transit, aerospace, nuclear power, and new energy sectors.
The radiation cross-linked ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene produced by the company, known for its strong high-temperature and radiation resistance, is one of the main installation wires in the aerospace field. This material has been applied to a domestically produced large aircraft model, which is of significant strategic importance for improving the independent innovation capacity of electronic components in China's aerospace industry and national defense.
Kinkou (Suzhou) Electronic Technology Co Ltd, which focuses on optical communication equipment, is the first domestic company to produce three high-performance copper alloy materials and has become a strategic supplier for AVIC Jonhon Optronic Technology Co Ltd.
The company's new factory in the zone is about to be put into use, further expanding its production capacity and upgrading its production line. With promising industry opportunities, the company is expected to further ramp up production in the future.
