Taicang, situated in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, is carving a niche for itself in the semiconductor industry by establishing an integrated supply chain system encompassing materials,  design, manufacturing, and testing.

At present, Taicang hosts 62 large-scale electronic information enterprises, primarily in the semiconductor sector. In 2023, these enterprises generated a total output value of 18.47 billion yuan ($2.57 billion), accounting for 5.7 percent of the city's overall industrial output.

Suzhou Raphael Optech Co Ltd stands out as a technology-driven company specializing in advanced optical inspection and imaging system development and production. Renowned for its expertise in automotive optics and semiconductor wafer inspection products, the company collaborates with leading entities in the automotive intelligent cockpit and third-generation semiconductor fields.

By the end of 2023, Suzhou Lekin Semiconductor Co Ltd earned recognition at the provincial level as a potential unicorn enterprise. With nearly 10,000 patents, Lekin Semiconductor holds independent intellectual property rights across the entire industry chain.

The favorable business environment in Taicang has laid a solid foundation for the increasing number of semiconductor enterprises choosing to establish themselves in the region.

Xinchen Semiconductor (Suzhou) Co Ltd is a local enterprise dedicated to producing laser chips. The first phase of Xinchen Semiconductor's project has nearly completed construction, gearing up for production.

"The investment funds and specialized warehouses required for the company's development were addressed with the support of the local authorities, allowing us to grow worry-free," said a representative from Xinchen Semiconductor.

To date, Taicang has established a comprehensive electronic information industry chain, including computer and intelligent consumer devices, integrated circuits, and new displays.

Among the above-designated-size electronic information enterprises, there are 37 high-tech enterprises, two specialized and innovative enterprises at or above the municipal level, and four gazella enterprises.
