Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province has made great strides in advancing the building of clusters for the aerospace, auto electronics and spare parts, numerically controlled machine tools, advanced material, as well as biomedicine and medical appliances industries.

The 3,000-mu (200 hectares) aerospace industrial park, which generated a combined output of 12 billion yuan ($1.77 billion) in 2022, is currently home to 100 aerospace enterprises like Galactic Energy.

Taicang signed agreements for 63 aerospace projects with a combined investment of 23.3 billion yuan in 2022.

The city's six-square-kilometer biomedical industrial park added 174 biomedicine companies last year and the industrial output of its enterprises above designated size amounted to 12.26 billion yuan.

The output of Taicang's automobile enterprises above designated size was 73.36 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 13.8 percent.

The output of the city's advanced material enterprises above designated size was 95.24 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent.

Taicang's 22 numerically controlled machine tools companies generated a combined output of 26.6 billion yuan last year. Six of Germany's top 10 enterprises in this sector currently have a presence in the city.

Local authorities have also made significant progress in bolstering the city's emerging service industries, including modern logistics and trade, culture and tourism, intellectual property, and human resources, to provide better services to the industrial clusters.

Taicang Port, which handled 8 million TEUs in 2022, is presently home to 40 enterprises engaged in modern logistics and trade. The revenues of the city's logistics and trade enterprises above designated size were valued at 130 billion yuan.

Taicang was included in a national program that involves building cities with high intellectual property competitiveness last year.
