The 2018 China-Germany Biomedical Projects Matchmaking Meeting took place on July 12 in Taicang, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
Ten projects from Germany, Switzerland and France were presented on the day with the aim of looking for potential investors, including in the biomedical fields of artificial intelligent medical treatment, medial digitization, and biological detection amongst others.
As one of the three key emerging industries in Taicang's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), the biological medicine industry in the city generates more than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) a year.
At present, Taicang is home to more than 80 biomedical companies and houses two important carriers for the industry: Taicang Biomedical Industrial Park and Taicang Biobay. The former focuses on the R&D of new medicines and medical devices and offers clinical research services, while the latter puts more emphasis on the R&D of in vitro diagnostic reagents and related instruments.
