Gu Xinyi, a chef in the city of Taicang, Jiangsu province, came up with a new way to express his gourmet tastes - jelly painting on white porcelain plates.

Gu used chocolate sauce, strawberry jam, cranberry sauce and pigments used in Chinese painting to depict flowers and birds on Jan 25.

His creations - flowers and birds with remarkable details and exuberant colors - were recorded by reporters from Taicang Daily.
