The Liyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province held a summit on Aug 27 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its establishment.

A think tank expert alliance was formed at the event. Eight experts from research institutes and companies, including the China Semiconductor Industry Association, Jiangnan University, the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, and Jiangsu Yuantsing Turbine Technology Co, joined the alliance.

A signing ceremony for 20 major projects worth a combined 10 billion yuan ($1.44 billion) and related to industries such as high-end equipment and semiconductors, was held during the summit. A number of companies, including Wuxi Evergrand Electronic Scientific Technology Co, Wuxi Leapers Semiconductor Co, and TrustChip Korea, will launch new projects or expand production capacity in the development zone.

Several industry experts and company executives also attended a roundtable forum to discuss industrial upgrading and the future development of the zone.

Sun Haidong, Party chief of Binhu district, said at the summit that the Liyuan development zone has over the past few years been focusing on sectors including integrated circuit design and intellectual property services to achieve high-quality growth.
